Very shallow mount 6.5" speakers in the doors and yes you should remove the door panel. 4x6 in the rear.
Or you could use the original mounting bracket and just leave the 4" size if you're running the sub. Then you won't have to guess what size you want... And you have to take off the door panel, there is no other way to get to the speaker. The only issue with installing 6.5 speaker in the front is that only 4" part of the speaker is exposed. When you take off the door panel, lift it up and let a light shine through where the speaker is - you will see that even though it looks like it's all got little "holes" for the sound to go through, only 4" area is actually exposed...Quote:

Yeah, the fronts are 4"coax and the rears are 4"x6". You can fit a 6.5" component speaker in the front doors behind the door panel if you use a 1" speaker spacer, but you cant use the fancy aftermarket speaker grilles. I recommend MB Quartz components.
They will shut if the speaker is too big/deep, you're just running a chance of cracking the glass/breaking the speaker if you roll it all the way down. 8) :DQuote:

what about a sub, if i just went with the 4's in the front does anyone have a good way to mount it out of the way. my car gets used a lot with the backseats down or even out, so if i were to put a sub in it would need to be mounted somewhere were it was not in the way. anyone have any ideas. or pics of theres
Maybe pull the spare tire out and make a false floor with the sub in the spare tire slot? I think that's what I'm gonna do.
i would build a fiberglass box against the sidewall on the drivers trunk. you could do a 8-10" sub would need to know what amount of air space to pick a sub,, but if you go within an inch of the speaker shelf and into the 1/4 by removing the factory carpet, i imagine you could get 1.5-2.0 cubic ft..
I just put a box designed for the hatch (speaker facing the hatch) behind passenger side rear seat... it does get in a way a little, but not a whole lot if you have the seats down... Depends on what you put back there. I know that since I got my wife the HHR I don't need to put the double-stroller in the back. :DQuote:

i was wondering what depth speaker does a 6.5 inch speaker need to be to fit into the door.
and i was also wondering if there was anyway to hook up an amp to an 04 aveo stock mp3/cd player.
.. no not really..Quote:

Even wheb you upgrade just the head unit you should get better sound than what you're getting right now with the same stock speakers because they're rated above what your h/u can produce. I would wait until I can install it all together because you might not see much improvement with just a speaker upgrade.
the man has a point... if you just want a little louder and better quality.. buy a new headunit and it will really help give you hose desired results... new speakers on the stock headunit will give you a better quality sound but will not help you get any louder... due to your headunit still only putting out so much power...Quote:

i did notice an improvement in sound going to the premium CD radio over the svm amfm radio..
Single din? I went with a double-din which IMO goes well with the rest of the interior. and gets rid of that little shelf under the single-din AM/FM that was in there... Plus the blue lighting goes well with blue LED lighting in the speedometer/tachometer/HVAC...
I'm happy with this unit, 170 bucks, that's inlcuding free shipping, and all the mounting hardware for my year/model... with separate pre-amp outputs for the fronts, rears, and the sub... And the options are not bad either...
But yeah, head unit first, then speakers and amps.

i like the fit, i cant stand adding all those lines and gaps..
i forget who has the 09 with and aftermarket nav type unit, and it looks good but there are like 3 trim rings around it..
if the radio kit had a new piece in it that replaced the current surround in one piece that cam in the whole way to me the radio, that would look nice. but putting in the factory trim with a trim piece inside of it to bringthe shape to "true" double din, then the trim piece that comes on the radio.. it just takes away form the look.
i have been tempted to try the korean oem nav. but $400 and buying it from some shady website.. eh not so much.
i'm just glad to have a radio a lot of my other cars you couldnt hear one over the engine..
Chances are, most of Aveos don't come with XM radio... And as far as I know, none of them come with Microsoft Sync.. Onstar could hooked up to an aftermarket radio as far as I know, the stereo is just a means for the onstar to communicate with you... And if you have Microsoft Sync, Onstar, AND XM radio with free subscription, chances are, your car already came with a very nice sound system.Quote:

I don't even wanna mess opening it up and very satisfied with the sound.
Aveo's stock sound system cries for improvement. 8)
Rabbit, you might have issues because Korean Nav unit might not have the correct maps in it... Or no language option. Then you'll have to learn Korean.. :D

this is what i am talking about, supposedly contoured for an oem fit..
Rabbit,
The reseller ratings are pretty high, but there's only 4 reviews LIFETIME and only 3 in the last six months...

I usually check the stores/sites on here first... the reviews are usually pretty accurate, but I would be weary about only 3 reviews in half a year... sounds like he could have his buddies/relatives type something up.
Your money - your call. 8)
Are you going to add glass pods onto your door?Quote:
