I had to install the JVC stereo without a wiring harness and I seem to have all of the wiring hooked up correctly. I did not blow a fuse but when I turn on the car, the stereo wont turn on. I've rechecked all the wires and fuses and now Im stuck.

If you turn the car on does the power wire to the stereo have 12V going to it?
It's not getting power, so 're check the wires again! Did you Google the wiring diagram when you wiring it?!
If you are getting a sound like it wants to turn on try using a better ground, or making sure the ground wires you have connected are very tight! and be sure to check fuse in the back of cd player!
First thing is you need a multimeter or at least a stab light.
Check your ground, place one end of meter on ground and other end on a known 12V. If good ground check the other 2 power connections.
1 Yellow wire will be 12V CONSTANT. so 12V even without the key
1 Red wire should be switched 12V from ignition.
Even try running the 2 12V to battery and ground to battery to see if unit is DOA
