that does look like the earlier plug, must be from a 08 hatch, before the dash redesign.
if that is the case, then yes it should fit. at worst, you would need to put in the surround piece too.
the black plugs are for the newer style dash, it is two separate connectors. which i think is 07 and up sedan, and 09 and up hatch? only thing i can figure is because those cars are Onstar ready.
i just put an 07 radio out of a pontiac wave with the black plug into my 09 aveo hatch, it plugs right in, but i have noticed three things, first it is not onstar ready, which is fine because i am not going to pay for the service when it runs out, and i can get rid of the buttons on the headliner. second, the dimmer doesnt work the same on it? but i cant say i recall the radio dimming before. third is since it is out of a pontiac, it glows red instead of green, but i like that, and am going to eventually change the rest of my bulbs to red.
its really confusing looking at all the radios as i have seen some 2007's with the black plug which i figured is the newer style and then i see this 2008 radio with the older white plug....
is there a dash difference between a 4 door and a hatch back ?
I dont want to hack up anything to fit this sucker in....
and I dont know if this guy on ebay will get back to my question before it ends
basically, all the cars with the original front end, have the older dash and white plug it seems, and all the cars with the newer front ends have the newer dash with the black plugs..
since the hatchback kept the earlier front end into 2008, it still had the earlier dash, as far as i can tell and just went up to a double din radio.
Dumb question - the factory CD/MP3 radio does not have an auxiliary headphone jack, correct? My understanding is that it plays MP3's on Cd's, but does not have a seperate input. I have the AM/FM only radio and it's the one thing I want to change out.
