2009 Hatchback Front Door Mounting Issues

First off, I'm new to this forum and I'm quite glad it exists! Tons of people here that are quite knowledgable and know what they're doing (unlike myself...)

So, the issue I seem to be having here is that I am attempting to replace the stock speakers in my '09 hatchback. The issue is more or so regarding the front speakers.

I purchased two 5.25" Kicker DS525 speakers thinking that they were 4" (wasn't paying attention when I ordered them..) and figured I may be able to make them work. Unfortunately, I realized quick that the speakers wouldn't fit the mount.

What I'm trying to figure out is: What mounts/adapters/brackets would I need to get in order to successfully install these? I've been looking around online, but as I am not to savy with this kind of thing, I thought it would be best to sign up here and ask a question. I just want to be sure I'm purchasing the right parts so I can get this done in one run.

Any and all help would be SUPER appreciated. I've gone too long without ANY audio in my car and I'm so close to finally fixing it.

Welcome to the forum. One thing you can do for us to help you is post pictures of the speakers and existing mounts. You can even drop the speaker into the existing mount and shoot a picture from the backside.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....

if i recall correctly, you should be able to run a 1" spacer for the speaker diameter and it will work.. I think you an go up a 6.5" with a shallow mount depth, just so the spacer works. Without the spacer, any aftermarket speaker regardless of diameter will hit the window when you roll it down.

That's what I was thinking, I just wasn't sure. I've been doing a good amount of research and it seems that the 1" spacer was something I found to be consistent throughout, so it's nice to hear that someone else thinks so too. Especially someone from this forum.

I'll still be uploading the photos tonight, just to give you guys a visual on what I'm dealing with here. You can never be too sure I suppose.

But if all goes well, then I'll be able to move onto installing the rear speakers. I ended up purchasing a set of 6x9 Kicker DS693's, something that's a bit more than the stock 4x6's. I know that these will definitely require some modification, but there's more space to work with in the hatchback and that didn't worry me too much.

I figured I could either modify the hatch cover by cutting out some holes, or I could just get 6x9 enclosures and put them in the storage area. My only concern with using the hatch cover as the mounting area is it's strudiness and whther or not it'll sink in due to the weight of the speakers.

Would it just be better to get the enclosures? I'm trying to stay on a budget, but it depends. I'm just really desperate for a reliable sound system since I spend a good amount of time in my car driving long distances. The silence can get to a person..
