It's likely than one or more of the capacitors in the board of the clock failed, and you need to be replace it.
I have seen photos of that board, and it looks relatively simple, so any person with a little knowledge of electronics, an access to a solder iron and a desolder, should be able to replace those capacitors.

If you are going to replace it anyways, I would give the repair option a try.
Two capacitors of that type cost less than 1$, and you only need to desolder 4 points.
As you can see in that photo, the board is very simple.
