      2011 Sound System

      Hello,

I just got a 2011 Aveo5 and I love it. I've been looking into getting a better audio system for it. I was looking at 4 inch speakers for the front, and 4x6 inch for the back. Seeing as how small the car is, will this small of a speaker size have negative impact on the sound quality?

As for the bass, I have a Lanzar Vibe 300 Watt amp, and was looking into a 12" sub. However, if i can save money I would like to avoid buying a new receiver. Can I wire in an amp successfully into the stock 2011 receiver?

Sorry, kind of new to this.

      Geoff

      So I read relative threads.

Thinking about going with 6.5" in the front, and putting an 8" amped bazooka sub in the trunk. Keeping the original head unit and 4x6" speakers in the rear. Hopefully this will increase sound volume and audio clarity in the car.

      Opinions?

I have a sound ordinance 8'' amplified bandpass and it fills in the lows very well. Iam assuming that you want to do just that, fill in the low notes, considering you are even considering an 8'' ampl. box. Anyways they are on the crutchfield website: Sound Ordnance™ B-8P 80-watt powered bandpass subwoofer at Crutchfield.com
they have good stuff and are dreat with customer service albeit they are a little on the top end for prices you cant go wrong with them as far as warranty issues and such. Just be aware as you need to be from an authorized dealer in order for any of the warranties to be fulfilled. live and learn. Whatever it is you decide on it will be better than stock for sure. Another thiought would be to be an oem head unit with cd player and AUX input for the Ipod and mediaplayers.

keeping an OEM headunit and just upgrading a couple speakers is still going to give you junk sound because the better speakers need a better and cleaner signal sent to them..

Between road noise and random car noise, will their be a whole lot of difference between factory stock and a 119$ pioneer head unit?

I agree with Tidus and Geoffny. The stock stuff was pure junk.
Insignia NS-C5111 review - Car Receivers

I bought this unit some time ago and new speakers. The original sound in my car was terrible. I put my new receiver and suddenly my crap speakers sounded great! That was three years ago I still have yet to swap speakers. I am saving them for when the stock speaker have worn (it's getting close).

The other suggestion on to improve sound in the car is to use better insulation and reduce the road noise. Has anybody tried working this angle?
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....

maybe you really need better tires for less road noise, and add sound insulation to the floor and rear wheel wells.
