Sorry guys but you're wrong .Yes he can put amp on the factory radio . he only needs an HI to LOW level output device like this item STINGER SGN13 HIGH TO LOW LEVEL OUTPUT CONVERTER 35X2 - eBay (item 230575275894 end time Feb-16-11 15:50:09 PST) .The percentage lost in power is less than 10% it's not much . What do you think ,can you make it work like this ,it's so simple

Road noise isnt that bad and random other noises don't really penetrate music that much, the reason they sell aftermarket head units is because the aftermarket ones give off more power to the speakers

Example: stock head unit gives the speakers 10w each an aftermarket one gives off 40... That alone will give you a better sound quality and a lot more sound output and an afterrmarket head unit also gives you the ability change things and to give a real subwoofer output instead of throwing that stinger junk inline. Theres a reason that respectable installation shops don't offer that type of solution.

Spend the money on a nice head unit and you will be pleasantly surprised at how it sounds

So if i get a 60W peak stereo, that should be enough to bring out decent sound quality within my speakers?

Dual XD1222 CD receiver - Reviews at Crutchfield Outlet

Would have been nice to have a link. Take a look at the reviews; they did not impress me.

The additional watts does help in sound clarity. It takes power to move a speaker cone forward and backwards. The more power that is available; the transitions of moving the speaker back and forth will be more precise and hence better sound. So think of it this way it's like stopping and accelerating a car. With more motor the faster you can accelerate the car.

sorry about the lack of link.

I get what you're talking about with the power. Thanks for the information.

I should award myself the "beat the n00b award." Man I came down too hard geoffny25. Glad you got the discussion on power. I am a little pleased with my analogy. Keep looking, but mostly the 100 dollar price point is usually where you start getting nicer sound.

honestly, i know that is a cheap headunit, but if i was going to buy a headunit with usb and aux input for myself, i would get them on the back of the radio and run the wires down to the center console. even on the oem radio it gets really tiring heading the cord tangle up your hands and such as you shift the car. (like i said i like a clean looking dash). even the oem premium cd made a nice difference in sound over the oem amfm sve radio.

i also think the oem radios in the newer aveo must sound better than the old aveos.. but its my first car in the last 4 i owned that had 4 working speakers that you could hear over the engine..

it is true that an aftermarket head unit makes alot of difference in sound quality and quantity, but ALOT of audio shops, even nationwide chains offer high end interfaces. Alot of people lease cars and dont want to deal with paying for an install to just 2 years later pay to uninstall, audio shops know this and will offer high end converters, to add an amp and sub without replacing a headunit

So, has anyone had any experience removing the door panels from a 2011 Aveo? I imagine it's like removing the panels on the earlier model, but on all the threads, everyone speaks of removing 3 phillips head screws from the bottom of the door. I can't find these screws. Thanks for the help
