      if it gets too hot then your pushing your amp too hard. the rate of heat dissipation to the creation of heat is equal when the amp is putting out its optimum watts.

      so im trying to push too much power to it? does that mean i need a better amp?

      well i don't actually know (pathetic i know) but they were both used and abused then given to me to use untill i get my setup together. so i have no clue on any of the specs. sorry- im not asking you to try to give me any advice when i can't even give you any info.

      well if the amp gets warm( you can touch it continually without getting burned) then your alright. But if you can get burned by it after touching it for morethen 10 seconds'ish then your giving it too much. I know Bass is addicting and you just want more more more but try and push too much will only cause it to blow or overheat.
