I added the factory audio control pod to my 2008 Aveo5 (USA also) and unfortunately discovered that the component which makes the electrical connections from the steering column to the steering wheel was not correct for the application of the audio control pod. There were not enough connectors built in to allow for it.
I suggest finding a dealer that can supply you with the proper "Steering Wheel Clock Spring". One that comes factory with an Aveo that already has the Audio Control Pod. It was mentioned in another post as being about $130.
On my car I found a lot of the wire harnesses already configured for accessories not included in my LS model. But, this was not one of them.
BTW, you get to the Clock Spring by removing the pods, then the airbag, and you'll be able to see it. Be sure to disconnect the juice before proceeding as you don't want the airbag to accidentally blowup.
Please post the part number and cost if you proceed with the mod.
