Blue Trim

I've painted some of the trim on my 2005 Aveo hatch blue to match my mats. I used a fabric/vinyl paint which did not require primer. Here's some pics.

The door handle rings were not too difficult. I just popped them out with a screwdriver.

These steering wheel inserts came out pretty easy. I pryed them off with a flat screwdriver. To put them back I needed the help of a friend. I held back the plastic on the wheel while he re-installed the inserts.

The center console was the biggest job. The harnesses for the switches on the upper panel had to be disconnected before yanking it out. This meant the deck also had to be removed.

I think this looks much better than the stock grey colours. Tell me what you think.

Here's more, plus I did the gauge lights and instrument panel lights and I popped on an opel/vauxhall style gearknob.

I'm looking to cover up the interior door panels and the plastic stuff nearby with some sort of material. Has anyone done this before? Any tips?

Looks VERY nice! I love clean and smooth pain lines, and I love that color blue. I need to repaint the covers on my steering wheel as well, they are kinda scratched.

Cool! I want to change the lights of center console, but I dont know where to start to remove..
How did you do that? and is led that used T10 or T5?

VERY VERY VERY COOL this is the post ive been waiting for. im going to do red to match my car paint! wow this weekend is already full of cheap car stuff and its only tuesday! thanks for the post man! i love the right side drive aswell but i guess thats how it is in south Africa. wish that was legal in usa. idk why they want the drivers close to other cars anyway. prob would help with the amount of people that drive with there brites on.

I'm not sure exactly what kind of bulb it is. I just pulled out the incandescent bulbs and showed them to the guy in the motoring shop i go to (Autostyle Motorsport). He gave me the 15 SMD bulbs with the correct wedge base. To remove them you have to unscrew the entire hood thing. There will be one screw holding the gauge cluster in place. Once you remove that you can lift it up and remove the harness. You will notice the back of the cluster has these thing which twist out. those are the bulb holders. You will need to pull the incandescent bulbs out of the holders and replace them with the LED ones. Be careful not to replace the signal lights and the bright indicator :p those have films on the front of the cluster rather than over the bulbs.

If you want to paint only parts of the trim I advise you to use insulation tape instead of masking tape. Masking tape just falls right off. Especially on the gauge cluster stuff. I also noticed that its better to spray the paint at 90 degrees to the surface otherwise the paint gets under the tape and you end up needing to use thinners and sandpaper to remove the paint. This vinyl paint does not come of easily.

Before unscrew what did you do for remove black cover of center console?
I heard that we can remove from bottom putting minus driver and pull up, but I dont want to break..

Do you not have RPM gauge?
