      clock won't keep accurate time

2011 Aveo - clock is on top of dash - for the past year it won't keep accurate time. I reset it and next time I start the car, it's the wrong time. Oh, and I'm a girl.

Not sure if it was this forum or not, but it was suggested possibly a fuse - then winter hit and it was too cold for me to fiddle with fuses. LOL. I purchased a small battery-operated clock that fit perfectly in the same spot as clock. and forgot about clock problem.

fastforward now it's summer - battery-operated clock died due to excessive heat. decided to try the fuse thing again - guy at Autozone couldn't figure out how to remove the fuse. (based on what I found online, the yellow one is the one I need to change) Name: 0806151422.jpg

so I took it to dealer (remember, I'm a girl) - guy said if it was a fuse, my clock wouldn't be working at all. He said my battery needs replaced - "first indication of battery problem is clock not keeping accurate time" . It was a long week, it's hot, I'm tired and when I asked to make an appointment he said he's booked until next week but they could get me in NOW. So, $135 later I have a new battery. Oh, he also asked if clock was that important. "Don't you have a watch or a cellphone?" Should that have tipped me off?

Started my car yesterday - clock is wrong again. GRRR.

so, I'm here to find out what could be wrong, what else to try. and yeah, I suppose I could live without it and turn on my cellphone and see what time it is, but I'd really like to get my clock back wihtout having to spend hundreds of dollars. guy at dealer said $89.99 to pull my car in to diagnose. ugh.

      thanks.

The clocks have been known to have solder issue or the heat causes solder issue. Maybe just swap it your self and save the 90 bucks. Even if you are a girl, it's not that hard. Just takes a phillips screwdriver and some time.
