      # Fiberglass enclosure for the rear hatch
      # Rear Brace with marine speaker mounts might be cool

      Something along these lines:

I would change the marine enclosure to something like chrome or brushed aluminum to match the interior and turn them around to face the cab and not the rear glass.

in theory it sounds cool, you can put up 6x9 or 6.5 instead of replacing the stock 4x6. I would go with two 10" subs. I don't like the roll off of a 12", the 10 has a much tighter sound and I would have two so it would be nice and loud

I have 2 10's right now and it pretty much takes up the back plus the box bangs from side to side while cornering spiritedly. I would like a smallish box made for a single 10 (punch) which would allow me to use the rear of the car and could be easily attached to the car so it's solid, yet simple to remove. Perhaps I could use a bungee. If you can show me a nice compact 10" sub box, I can figure a way to mount it.

Have you entertained the possibility of maybe two corner set pyramid design boxes for 8" subs instead of the 2-10" or 1-10"? Heck in a hatch, you may be able to get by with 1 corner set 8". Fosgate 8s are fairly inexpensive, require less wattage, and almost no box space. You can recover the most of your trunk.
Given the size of the car, and the design of the car, a little sound goes a long way. I have been operating on 1-8" punch sub since April. Granted, I am not shaking my neighbor's car, or winning any super sound stereo contests, but I can listen to anything from death metal to hip-hop, without really stressing the ammount of bass. And since 8"s only require like .23 Cu Ft sealed, it will save a ton of space, and will really ease the load on your amp. If done right, it can make an awesome system.
      Just a thought.
