Is it difficult to install 6.5" speakers in the front doors?
Hello!, I have an Aveo Hatchback 2007, which front door speakers size is just 4" as you already know.
I read on this forum that a 6.5" speaker may fit if they are shallow depth and with an 1" spacer, although I didn't find any detailed info on how to install them.
I want to know if anyone of you have done this, and please tell me how did you make it.
I'm thinking of buying these speakers: Polk Audio DB651 along with Scosche SS65 1-Inch Universal for 5+-Inch or 6+-Inch Speaker Spacer (http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-SS65-1...3354639&sr=1-2).
Do you think this spacer will do?
Re: Is it difficult to install 6.5" speakers in the front doors?
its pretty simple actually, you take off the door panel. the stock 4" speaker is held in by a houseing mounted to the door just remove the speaker and the housing its in. now in the original place of the housing the spacer should fit. the only thing is the OEM housing screws are offset weird so my spacer is only held in by 3 screws but i've had no trouble with it.

it just used the original screws but like i said there's only 3 holding it in which works very well. and i wish i did take pictures when i took it off but i never did sorry about that.

i used self taping screws because i wanted 4 screws in there and factory screws were too short for the spacers i had to use.. ive since changed out the speaker and installed even deeper 6.5"s and dynamated around the speakers..
