      Driver door lock troubles...

Hi guys, I'm new to the board here, I got a '07 Aveo hatchback. The problem I'm having is with the driver side door lock. It seems as if the linkage is binding up somewhere. When I try to use the remote to lock/unlock the door, it trys to move but it wont go into the locked position. I can get it to lock with the key, but only sometimes, and the lock handle wont go down as far as the other doors. Has anyone had this happen to them before? Just thought someone could lead me in the right direction, thanks!

i personalyy think it has something to do with the solenoid, i didnt get the remote entry on mine- but they leave the solenoid in it anyways. with mine i can only lock the driver door once it's closed. if i push the lock down and then close it it unlocks. i would say take it back and have them check/replace the solenoid.
      just my opinion.

The driver's door lock only goes down when the door is closed. It's a "feature". Read it in the manual. If you open up the door panel, there's supposed to be a little barb on the lock knob that you can cut off that prevents that.

i also got that problem as in when its cooler outside. when it gets cooler outside the rubber ring around the lock will contract more tightly around the lock and cause it to stay down or up. my solution, after a nice 20-30 minute drive with the heat on full blast and interior pieces are warming up, just take the little rubber neck off from the base of the lock. and then come spring time, put it back on.

and mtlswift was correct about the door lock feature. it helps keep u from lockin ur keys in ur car :P
You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

Thanks for the help guys, the car is under warranty, I just don't like anyone working on my vehicles. They have never done the job as I would have done it.

I say take it to the dealer and have them fix it, I do it all the time for the smallest things, I just got the whole pass. side seat back fabric replaced because it had a small tear in the seam. They'll do a fine job I'm sure.

If the door is open or if a key is in the ignition, the only way is to use the key in the driver side tumbler to lock.

I took it it to the dealer this week, they said they had to call a guy out from the Karr alarm factory to make an "adjustment". Well, it's fixed now!
