Drivers door lock/unlock via door stem

I can lock/unlock the car using the remote, but when I try to lock the car with the stem (not sure exactly what you call is) intermittently

The question is, I assume that is all apart of the door lock solenoid? Before I take the door panel apart I wanted to have the part on hand. Again I assume the "sensor" to lock is in the solenoid assy?

I have replaced one of these door lock actuators on my 2009 Aveo. The actuator consists of a solenoid (to lock and unlock) and also a electro-mechanical switch (to sense if a person is manually locking/unlocking, and to sense the lock status position). Both the solenoid and switch are physically connected together through a short plastic connecting rod. You can't buy them separately. If you buy the actuator, you get the complete assembly. From my perspective, it is a strange set-up. It would have been easier and more practical if GM/Daewoo made the actuator as a single integral part, with both switch and solenoid combined into one unit. But for unknown reasons they made the actuator as the two components physically linked together. In summary, if you buy the actuator, you get everything you need (apart from the actual door latch). If i remember correctly, you will have to remove the old door latch from the old actuator, and then attach it to the new actuator. Pretty simple to do. Though the working space inside the door is pretty tight.

The part I ordered ended up being the wrong one, haven't ordered the correct one, but it looks like to replace the solenoid will scrap knuckles and create lots of bad words. Will clear a weekend to perform this task.
