How Do I Remove the Needles so I can remove the green film?? Do they just pull off?
194 bulbs IIRC. and you might want to be careful about using LEDs. Because it is such a closed in space with no airflow, they have the chance of getting burned out.
Burning out as is the bulb it self or melting??Quote:

the diode insde burning. And yes you can use normal bulbs. That is what I did.
You can buy any 194 bulb from AutoZone, just make sure that they are actually painted on and not tinted, otherwise they don't come up the color of the bulb...
Never taken apart the stock cluster, but I know in my Probe to change the color you have to take the stock cluster apart and remove the tinting that is inside the cluster itself... you can then either just use the different lights that way, or go to an arts/theater shop and get some of those see-through light coverings (like for spotlights in drama theater) and trim that to fit...
With the aveo, you only need to change the bulbs and not the tint on the cluster. Removing it will make it look ALOT better but is not necissary. Also, if you remove the film, you would want to say away from LEDs because they have a focused beam pattern and will show "hot spots"

Alright, so i'm gunna get a few blue 194 base bulbs, remove the tint from inside the cluster and bam! I just wanna make sure the bulbs will fit into the sockets.
No LEDs ive heard of too many heat issues
id suggest not to use reg. bulbs, or at least not ones from autozone or pep boys. i have red ones in and they keep gettin burnt. the coloring literally burns and slowly the lights turn orange.
That means you got some bulbs where the coating is burning off.
If you can find some light "condoms", that would work as well.
yeh and i tried 2 different brands and both were the same-pieces of crap!
well U need 5 bulbs for ur dash #194, and one bulb #74 for ur odometer, u can use leds but be carefully because they burned out as mine, but if u want to still use leds u should use a led bulb like this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-AMBER- ... QQtcZphoto
or this one:

and don't use a inverted cone led because this kind of leds cause hot spots on dash.
hope this help :)
bump
umm isnt there a site from that xstevex posted...wat film on the guages? i did mine with 5xleds bulbs (spread the light the best) any other leds will cause really bad bright spots....ive had them for two plus years now and none have burnt out....and i never peeled any film off and mine come out birght red
i tryed to take off one the needles, but stoped cus it was not moving to good so i pushed it back on then hooked it all back up and to my surprise, it did not work so i had to use the tac for a speed refrence. then one day i took it in the dealer and thay said " you know that your spedo dosent work , so we ordered you a new one. sweet, a freebe

What bulbs do I need to use? Anyone done this to an 09 yet?
I think you mean the resistor burning out, the diode is the light and I have never seen the light burn out, without doing it on purpose anyway... I've had to replace reisitors before but not in my car, for other lighting and they're good to go.Quote:

does anyone know what other cars these bulbs (SMD blue LED 194) will fit?
