I didn't splice in the big tube. If you look where the big tube is, there is a rubber plug blocking a smaller outlet. I hooked it there. I'll post more pics tomorrow.

finaly got the vacuum gauge, all wired up, and hooked up, but still need to attach it to the car (its taped right now)

i would just buy a column pod and mount that.. i don't know that you want to mold fiberglass to the steering column incase you have problems with something down the line...
I highly doubt anyone sells a column pod that fits the Aveo.

i must say though, that is kind of high looking, i would want one more flush.
