I went out a ordered some replacement speakers for my Aveo. Instead of getting spacers and all that madness, I ordered some Blaupunkt speakers that are the same size as the originals. PC-40 (80 Watt 4" component system with 1" tweeters) for the front and PCXB662's (6.75 Coaxials) for the rear. The stereo shop had to make an appointment for them because they have yet to work on an Aveo with the 6 Speaker stock system. I am excited to get these put in. I will come online Tuesday evening and let everyone know how they came out.
As far as the sub, I decided to keep the same sub, and will even cut costs a little bit. I am still going to build a custom enclosure (probably early July) incorperating the single Fosgate Sub that is already mounted in my Bazooka tube. I will be building a box to Fosgate speaker requirements, using the amp that is already powering it (100 Watt). It won't be the loudest on the block, but the sound is more for me. I am an old rocker, I don't need a whole lot of boom.
While I build the box, I will be taking pictures. It is an interesting design, I must admit. Though the box will be small, I will be stretching it across the trunk in a wedge style, 10" top, 12" bottom, 10" high, and stretched 38" across the back of the car, and fitted to match the seat. Only 14 inches of that 38 be the box (ported enclosure), the rest will have a drop down door, possibly even some drawrs inside for my roadside kit, tools, First aid kit, etc. The details are still in the works. The only thing solid is the exterior design. If all goes well, it will have a very unique and non-intrusive look in the trunk. Combine that with a false deck and hinged door for the spare tire, it should look pretty sweet. We will see how everything comes out when it is done..
Oh, also, I am covering everything in Neutral Leather (most likely Pleather) to match the interior of the car. We will see how it all turns out.
