HELP! I need to know what this is called!

I need to know what the silver panel circled in red is called in the attached photo of the interior. I recently purchased a 2007 Aveo LT Sedan and this piece is scratched all up and I want to know if I can replace it, and if so I need to know where to get it and what it is called so I can find it!

Surely you could ask a Chevy dealer and they'll sell you it.

I'm wondering how it got scratched. (A dog? A nervous girlfriend?)

It would probably be easiest and cheapest simply to sand it down and paint it black...

I agree, that would be the easiest fix and if u do the rest of the trim it will look really nice...
