Help My Cd Player Went to Theft Mode

:x So I Got A Check Eng. Light. I needed the Oil Change and thats the ONLY reason i can find that the dummy Light would come on for. So I disconnected the Pos. on the Bat. and reset the Computer. Now the stock radio/cd/mp3 player is asking for a code. What Code? where can i find the code? who has the code? I can not live with out a radio when i drive. HELP i need to fix this yesterday. :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: Yes I Got The Oil Change but it was at 2,500 Miles not 3,000 Miles

2004 Chevy Aveo. 4 Door. Blue. Yes It's A Chevy, Not a Daewoo!

You can go to the dealership and they can give you the code....

Be prepared to be thoroughly frustrated. It took me hours on the phone and 3 trips to the dealership before they were able to get my code. Just make sure they write it down for you when they get it in case it happens again.

How do you know for sure what the check engine light was for? Without a code reader, you'll never be sure.

my oil was due. and they didn't reset my cumputer at the dealership when i got it done.

Its outlined in the Owner's Manual about it. It says that they are supposed to give you a little red card that has all those codes stamped on to it and I think it shows you how to do it....My 04 did not come with one. I dont need it anywho, because I got a Pioneer in the slot now.

i had to go to the dealer they checked everything and found out they had to pull the radio to get the I.D. number on the top of the radio. Green Sticker that you can hardly read. then call canada (some number in the 905 area code) and read them the part number, I.D. Number, and the Vin Number. they then had to look up in a computer to give the DEALER the 4 diget Number to enter the code. they wanted to charge me $85 just to pull the radio. good thing they had no time in the shop so my tec guy did it for me for free. now it's fixed and it was the biggest pain in the A$$ to get this done.

next time.......SCREW THE STOCK RADIO ITS NEXT TO WORTHLESS AND OVERPRICED......it gives you an excuse to buy a better one instead.

These things will throw a trouble code for dirty oil?

We had an 02 Grand Am that had a change oil light that would come on based on calculations of throttle position, rpm's, and mileage.

Do the Aveos have this too? I bought mine used with 10,000 on it, and it had no manual. The oil was already dirty when I bought it, which pissed me off. I put a few hundred miles on it before seeing how dirty the oil was, and just recently changed it. So, I havent even put 2,000mi on the car since I bought it. I might not have even reached that point yet.

I dont change my oil until like 5 or 6 thousand miles...I have never gotten the CEL.

I haven't heard of it happening on an Aveo yet... but then again maybe we're taking good car of our cars, lol

I had something similar happen in my '02 Jeep Liberty... My transmission light kept coming on because of a bearing in the right, front wheel. Granted, my Liberty is RWD until you kick in the 4WD... Who knows why?

Also, when I got the new brains for my '78 FirePigeon, I kept getting the CEL because of the gasoline I put in it. Everytime I put in regular unleaded that darn thing would turn on. It even turned on when I put in Premium. I started putting in the 105 Octane and the light never turned back on... Of course I was shelving out $4.85-5.50 a gallon for that... depending on who I bought it from.

So it is all fixed and my light has not come on still so it must have been all good. just note that this problem is only on the 04's and it's something you should know about. so to recap. call canada with you're vin # and the radio id # (Green Sticker On Top Of Radio) and they will give you a 4 diget code for the radio. They Did Not put this in any other aveo after 04 due to the fact that it's a pain in the butt.

So I have this weird problem. pulled the radio to put in a new one. need a kit for after market radio, so i put back in the old one. hooked it up, found the code in a site online, entered the code and it worked!!. Here's the kicker it works with the door open but not closed. Anybody got any ideas?

brand new basic deck with usb port and sub pre-out are always on sale in the local store for under $90 . better than your stock deck.

Here on this forum. Just type in 2004 Chevy Aveo radio codes and you will find a thread with some codes. I found out my problem with the radio going on with the door open had to do with a loose wire in the door. took off door found the wire and fixed it and all better. And I love my new stereo. Got the Sony with the Bluetooth. Music sounds great and so does the telephone conversation. Cool huh?

Never go to the dealer for anything....they will rape you financially every chance they get.

Unless you're under warranty. But... for something as simple as unlocking your radio?

They've done numerous things for free that Mazda dealer wanted to charge me 75-150 bucks for:

-Re-program extra keys/remotes
-re-set my TPMS sensors
-etc...

GM is a lot more customer friendly than many other foreign car makers IMO.

Ah yes! you are correct. If your car is still under warranty then it is ok to go to the dealer for help. But once that warranty is over they will try to take advantage of you and I am speaking from experience.

I remember my thermostat housing broke off and it was originally made of plastic. At the time I really didnt know anything about working on cars so I took it to the dealer. $100 later they replaced the thermostat housing and it was made of alloy. I dont know why the hell the original part wasnt made of alloy to begin with.
