Its more fun to drive a slow car fast, rather than drive a fast car slow!
just pop off?
if they can't be put back on, some 3m automotive double sided tape will do. 4-5 bucks a roll at wal-mart.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.
They come off if you pry them out, and they go back in the same way, no tape or glue needed

FWIW, the best way to get at these is to remove the air bag. They are then easy to remove and replace.
First remove with control pods on either side of the steering wheel. Then you'll need a huge ass Torx driver to remove the bolts on the air bag. Take the bag off (do not disconnect the connectors - and be sure to disable the battery before messing with the air bag). The Torx bolt is special as it has a pin protruding from the center - a standard Torx driver will not fit. I had to Dremel grind the pin down AND grind a dimple into the tip of the driver.
Be sure to torque down the air bag bolts when finished

Since I work on interesting electronics, I have my own set from years back. Here is a link to a set. It's worth while to have in your toolkit.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....
Be aware that the Torx bolt is a T-50. At least it is on my 2008 Aveo5. Pretty big.
Its a tamperproof torx...has a hole in the middle of the bit
