hey guys, I just found a 12 in Pioneer sub in the back of my buddies new car he bought. He let me have it, im not sure if it works and I was wondering if there was anyway to test it without an amp.
Can I just plug it into a stereo with some speaker wire?
Yeah, Ive hooked a sub into a stereo with a speaker wire. It doesnt sound good at all, but it worked. Whether its good for the sub/ stereo Im not sure, but it wasnt a permanent thing and as far as I know no damage was done.
So to just test it, give it a try.
thats how ur supposed to break in new subs actually.
just take a 9v battery and some wire and connect the battery to the sub... Should vibrate if it works...
its good to break in the subs for 30 hours or so ill get back with the corect htz and wattage
well i did some investagating on the break in for a sub................. check with the manufacturer

Just an FYI,
A 1.5 volt DC battery will do (E.G. AA, AAA, C, D, etc.) You don't need a 9 volt.
Just keep tapping the wires on the battery. You'll get a popping noise out of the speaker if it works.

Do Not Hold The Wires On The Battery!!!
It can overheat the voice coil and cause the speaker to lock up. Tap, tap, tap is all you want to do.
