How will this setup sound?
-
look under the audio thread , many of us have already but the 6 1/2" speakers in our front doors its quite simple all you have to do is either make or buy a 1" spacer so the window doesnt hit the magnet of the speaker, it really sounds way better than the midget speaker, especially if you get a system later on, 4way speakers have good highs.

hmmmm...sounds like a good idea...
It won't fit behind the factory speaker grill though will it.

i used sony 6 1/2" and it fits with the factory grill and they sound way better, yeah there is definitely a big thread covering this issue
-
Yeah I read the thread after I posted. Guess I should look before I comment...
This looks like the ticket...thanks.

That is an awesome deck. I have one myself and I love it. the best part is that it looks stock to the vehicle, which is what i was looking for in a deck. It also made the stock speakers sound alot better.

The setup will sound as good as the install, always a good thing to start with better products...

What do you mean?
-
i have had alpine for two years but i swapped the dash lights over to superbrightLED's that are blue and the blue from the deck doesnt match as good as i wanted so im swapping over to pioneer b/c they have bright blue led display or an alpine flip out dvd unit mabye
-
LOL...changing your deck so the lights match

What I meant is that the better the care taken during the install phase the better the sound produced.
Most quality after market speakers have to be placed off axis to get the best staging, meaning that they may or may not be in the best position for sound in a factory location.
As far as your head unit choice; nice choice but for what you are going to spend on it check out the Audiopipe APC500

I understand. I won't be moving speakers around though. I want to improve the sound quality but not modify the vehicle to much.
I've heard of Audiopipe but have never seen any of their products. I'll check it out...thanks.

I stated that the setup will only sound as good as the install, that is true to a point, but what makes a setup sound good is having the right cross over in frequency response. Also what is usually missing is mid-bass as most people cover the highs(tweeters) and cover the bass(subs) and look to a component set to fill in the gap.

WOW!
My head hurts after reading that...
There are a lot of acronyms in there I don't understand. I have some research to do now to find out what the heck that guy is talking about...
