      UPDATE: IT WORKS!

here's some photos of where I have the Controls Temporarily mounted (until I can afford the more permanent mountings on the Steering Wheel; which includes both Brackets that are made of Military Grade Unobtainium; which were Graciously provided by a Suzuki Forenza), and where I've routed my Harness:

Well, I've had to reposition the audio controls, the Velcro I used wouldn't stick to the pod; and I went ahead and installed the Unobtanium Brackets in the wheel.; all that remains is to buy and install the Clockspring and then I can enjoy the controls as Chevrolet intended.

The Ultimate End Goal (Ignore the one on the Steering Column):

I got the parts I needed from a Suzuki Forenza (the Forenza, the Suzuki Reno, and the Aveo all share the same steering wheel) at my local pull-a-part, and the head unit is the same one Chevrolet installed at the factory.

FYI to Canadians... The Forenza is better known as the Chevy Optra in Canada. And I'm willing to bet we've got a few in scrapyards.

And that means we have a source of the Unobtanium Brackets to properly mount them on the wheel.
