Just installed a New GPS unit eclipse AVN2210P

installed the avn2210p it my 06 blue hatchback... was told I didn't need the mounting kit... that was a lie.
Ordered one, but until it comes in I've got these big gaudy holes all around the unit.

I put sirius and the ipod adapter in with the install. The install should have been quick, but i failed to think it through the first time and had to redo alot of things many times.

For those of you who are wondering, the ipod install was nothing, just crimped those two joiners which i attached to the acc and ground of the sirius unit, since i had already spiced them into the power and grounded it to the frame, no need to do it again.
but if youd liek to see what i mean i've got some pics.

also of the unit installed, i know it looks bad, but i'll fix that as soon as the dash kit comes in.

Also if anyone is interested, do not try and shove the sirius boxes behind the radio itself... they will not fit no matter how hard you try. I wasted 2 hours on that alone... finalyl just found a hole up in the dash, they are sitting there and working just find.

If circuit city or anyone else would ahve installed this ti would have cost $160 for the install, $60 to add the sirius, another $70 to install the ipod cable. So was saving $290 worth being a nervous wreck for 3 hours and threatneing to stompt the thing a few times... yea probably. but don't ask me tonight i still wanna choke someone out at the moment.

I'm no pro. I've only do a radio install once before, and it was WAY easier than this. But if you have a little tecnhical know how, and don't mind thinking out of the box, this was an easy job. had I not wanted the sirus installed it would have taken less than 45 minutes... but i have to be difficult i suppose.
In case anyone has found out on their own and were wondering. you absoulty need the 2 din dash kit for the aveo for it to look worth a flip. It functions, sure, and its in place, but man does it look like crap at the moment.

Oh and I have battle scars!

This unit was a great deal. Got them for $400 installed... but the bastards at circuit city decided they didn;t want to install them... long huge story about that. I'll elaborate on that too if you'd like. Anyways... they gave me the unit for $300 to make up for the cost of the install. I think I ended up going out for the best considered all the extra I wanted done anyways.

any questions? I'd be more than happy to elaborate to help you save some the hairs on your head.

i just mounted my sirius tuner and ai-net adapter under the passanger seat onto the air-recycle ducts, and tapped into the harness wires for power as well. Although all of my audio equipment including the stereo are on the secondary batt in the trunk. I guess the worst part was hookin up the parking brake and foot brake wire which the alpine iva-w205 requires (unless you bypass it). We had tried to fit the crossover box for the infinity refrence speakers in my little bro's subaru behid the HU and had the same problem of no room. I think your setup will look really nice once you get the kit, I had to use one but i have 2007 sedan.

The sirius tuner has 2 peices... one tuner and thn the eclipse adapter box...

The tuner was put in underneat the wires for the ac, and the larger box is shoved up beside the stering wheel collumn... good god I wish i would have realized that there was a big empty hole in there much earlier in the process.

The unit wont go back any further, which really annoys me, but i suppose i can live with it. unless anyone has any suggestions as to how i can get it flush.

Are you missing some trim pieces or something or do you not have a final install picture? Also, do you have a pic of it on"?

on my install kit i used the side bolt on pieces instead of the cage to allow it to be slid in further to be flush. Are you using the cage?

yea i missing the trim peices. Im using the factory housing atm.

i read on here that you didnt need the dash kit... umm yea you do. (at least for a 2 dinn unit)

      I ordered it.

It will be here next week and I will take a finishe picture. I will take a picture of it on as well, and a few more angles, tilt, extra.

I know it looks horrible at the moment... beleive you me, it's driving me nuts.
So far I really love the unit itself. I've been making the tom tom tell me how to drive home from everywhere just to hear the british guy announce the turns

Also as far as getting it flush, I tried to push it farther in there, and it just wont got. The sirius cable is really think and bulky i think that may be one of the main reasons. Alos the wiring harnesses themselves take up a pretty good bit of space. If i could theoretically be behind the stereo as i was pushing it in, im sure i could make it ease in at least a little more, but i cant... so i suppose it will have to stick out that half inch or so.

We have 3 cars to do it in. 2006 chevy aveo. 2007 pontiac G5. 2007 Hyundia Santa fe.

Their excuse was that they wouldn't fit. LIES!

Then they determined they would fit. They put one in, and then decided that just didn't feel like doing the other 2 after I had already ordered all the parts that they claimed didn't exist.
Got the units for $300 because of that, but it was a real pain to put it in...

I worked at circuit city for 4 years before the whole store went to **** ya know back when there was customer service, people had departments, people were well paid, and people knew what they were talking about. I loved my job when I worked there.
I quit earlier this year to work at a hospital because I am a nursing student. ( So i can assure you I am not just a discruntled former employee, I left of my own free will at a time when I still really enjoyed my job) I can honestly say I am discusted with the downward spiral the company has made.
I didn't recognize but 1 person when I went to the store. I don't know how things are in the circuit city you work at, but that store used to provide excellent customer service, and now refuse to. I was treated like trash. Possible more like trash because I was a former employee. I was insulted and made to look like a fool.

hope you park in a garage... cause like that it won't last a week...

Where did you order the dash kit? Best Buy here has tons of them in stock... as a former employee (and engaged to a current employee) I can get you one for cost...
