Other:
Aesthetics and Matching Components, 10 different brands don't do it for me
SQ, and enough SPL to show off but not hinder the SQ
Price, cheap only on internet
Installed by Pros, no not Best Buy, but real pros or DIY
RESEARCH!
The sad truth is that no one brand makes great everything in the mobile electronics world so if you want the best you will have to combine brands, I think 10 would be an extreme case but 2 or 3 is probably more likely to get a great sound and performance.Originally Posted by kirbycope

Yeah, I know the a company that makes great speakers doesnt make a head unit, i.e. Infinity. But you'll need new wires as well. So theres three. Add the Dynamat and amp install kit. Thats 5. I could keep going but theres some leeway in that.
So who makes the best component speakers and who makes the best subwoofers? Just wondered about the opinons out there.

I prefer Infinity for my speakers, Image Dynamics for my sub, and an old school RF amp.
I've just recently started really digging into audio so I have little experiance. For me I don't care about mis matching brands, I could have 10 brands and not care as look as the colors go togather. For example my trunk setup is kickers w/ the silver face, hifonics amp in the same exact silver w/ "HIFONICS" lite up in blue, and blue boxs. My h/u is silver w/ blue display w/ green buttons. The blue matchs all my car, including my trunk stereo setup, the silver also matchs that, and the green matches my gauge cluster/clock. Though with my setup this works, the only speakers visiable are the subs, and the only amp visible is the sub amp.Originally Posted by aveosummit

I agree with RE competition for the subs, but when I needed new subs RE didn't have what I need in stock or something strange like that. So I went with kicker and are very happy with them, been giving them lots more power than I should and they've held up 5x longer than my old fosgates with a perfect match of power
For amps I love hifonics but I got to give my SPL amp some credit. When I bought it a few years ago no1 on a stereo forum really knew the company. It's been powering my CDTs at 125rms for nearly two years now and is SMOOSHED under my passenger seat with NO air flow, and even has a vent directly on it from the ac/heater. It's never overheated, even in winter when I have the heat cranked directly on it and the thing only cost some $75 shipped.
Cables is just anything that isn't really cheap/cheesy. I'd use welding cable if the local welder supplys wasn't 40mins away.
