      MP3 compatability?

Ari has a 2006 Aveo hatch as you know. Her's has the optional OEM CD player stereo with MP3 compatability.... but there doesn't seem to be a slot for the cord... Does anyone know how to hook up an MP3 player to this?
Sometimes I like the simplicity of my Monte Carlo

      - 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34 - LQ1 3.4L DOHC 24 valve semi-hemi V6, 210 HP, 215 ft-lbs of torque, 4T60e 4 speed automatic with O/D.... 123,000+ miles. Slowly resto-modding it.

What they mean by MP3 compatibility is that the player is capable of playing MP3 files recorded on a CD media. Its not designed to have the MP3 player plugged into it. The "slot" you're referring to, aka AUX (auxiliary) port wasn't introduced in our cars until a later years. Your options to hook up an MP3 player are either the FM transmitter or getting an aftermarket stereo. You could also record a few disks worth of MP3 tracks for her. That would be enough for days of entertainment. Not as convenient as just having your player plugged in, but definitely is the cheapest way to go (nothing to buy except for blank CD-Rs if you don't already have some).

well that's retarded..... My Monte Carlo does that. Looks like Ari's gonna switch to an aftermarket one ... eventually...
I have a sh*tload of blank CD-Rs and have been recording CDs using MP3 files for 2 years now. That is nothing new. Ari knows all she has to do is ask, which songs she wants and I'll have the CD to her by the next day.

you could swap in a factory unit with the aux input for next to nothing... if thats all your hunting.

i think you should just buy her a W body car, it seems like the best choice for you both.

      she has a W-body. a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue. 3.8L V6 is blown so we're trying to get a supercharged 3.8L swap done.

And as an aside, the MP3 thing isn't DIRELY necessary, as I have no idea what happened to my Ipod charger and have not even used my Ipod in over a two years.

We have a parts car, a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Supercharged, which is not only on the same platform, but was built in the same factory.... on the same assembly line.... in the same year. There are SOME incompatability issues (the body computer of the Intrigue won't communicate with the computer for the supercharged V6. This can be remedied by using the Pontiac's body computer) but it's just wiring. It's a direct bolt in, but wiring is the big problem.

They say wiring is always the biggest part of the engine swap.
