Need Help With Removing Manual Shift Knob On 04 Aveo

      Hello,
I was on here looking at a thread about removing the shift knob and I saw that a pin was mentioned in order to remove it. When I looked inside my Aveo, I could not find one.

I attached photos of what the inside of the shifter looks like in my car, any help would be appreciated.

In picture #2, its the silver clip located at 6:00, use a flathead, it wont break, I tried to put the shift knob with shifter upside down in boiling water to break the adhesive, but it didn't work. I used a hacksaw just under the knob, then shaved the top of the slide and repositioned the pleather boot. A little bit of spring is exposed but I have a slightly better knob and a ghetto short shifter

Thanks! I finally was able to get the shifter out once I knew what to look for. I put it in water on and off for about 30 mins. I still can't seem to get the knob off, but the bottom does seem looser and a substance started to collect on the stick while it was boiling for awhile, may have been the glue. I'm going to give it another go with a vice grip and try that way. Otherwise I may just stop, I don't know enough to be able to cut anything out it without fear of breaking something.

If not the boiling water trick u can try fire. It will destroy the knob, but the shifter should b OK
