Ok I gotcha. What should I use to cut the ovals? I don't have much experience working on cars. Very little in fact. So I am taking this car as an opportunity to gain some man points. I have a friend who works on cars a lot. He'd probably have the necessary tools. Anything else I should consider?
You can use quite a few things. A mini hand hacksaw (start the hole with a drill) or a sawzall/reciporacating saw, a dremel (my personal favorite, definitely recomend you get one if you dont have one), or a handheld jigsaw.Originally Posted by MrJakob

See that thing folding upwards? With the strings it attaches to the rear hatch door. That piece is what you would put the 6x9s in. Also, its 6.5" in the doors
also, you wont need an amp, however it is recommended. Get some high rated speakers, maybe 100WRMS each, NOT 100W max each. Then get a nice 600w amp. I have always like kenwoods' mid level stuff however alpine has been putting out some great stuff lately, their v-power amps are the tits
Oh I got ya. Yeah, my aveo didn't seem to come with that hatch cover. So I may have to go out and get one. That is why I wasn't sure what you were talking about. If I get an amp, How do I set that up? I know the speakers wire into the amp. Where do I wire the amp into? Man. There is a lot more to consider than I thought.

If you have an aftermarket head unit then you should have RCA outs. Just run rcas back to the amp and a remote line with the RCAs. Then on the other side of the car you would run a power cable from the battery through the firewall into the car to power the amp. If you have a factory radio then you would run a hi lo converter
Alright. Now, could I get some speakers. hook them up to the factory head unit. And later on, install the amp, maybe a sub if I still feel I need more depth, and an after market head unit? Could I get speakers first and then build off of them later on? Also, since I do not have one of those hatch covers. Any other areas you can think of to put the 6x9s?
