      Remote Starter

OK I bought and installed a remote starter and my 04 Aveo has factory alarm with keyless entry so I had to hook up the alarm bypass wire to the starter (found that out when I didn't and the alarm started going off) but now when I remote start the car I can't open the doors with the remote I have to do it with the key any one know what I can do to allow my to use the key fob to unlock the doors?

      Re: Remote Starter

hey my car is the same spec as yours, and im doing the same install as soon as it gets warmer, so i would also like to hear the answer to this prob.

PS did you need a transponder bypass for your car?
how many relays did you use in your install?

It was easy to do and I did not have to use a transponder bypass I read the way to find out if you need one is to take apart your steering column and look on the lock cylinder for a stamp that says PK on it if it is there you will need a transponder bypass. i did not have to use any relays.

      Re: Remote Starter

Ok, I have not gotten a reply from the12volt.com that is any useful but I have any idea I'm not sure if it will work but here is what it think is happening. The Factory Alarm Disarm wire is getting fed 12v constantly and it should not be all it needs it to get a 12v pulse to shut off the alarm. So I'm going to try and disconnect the wire after the car is started and test and see if the remote works. If it does then I'll have to come up with some thing that will just send a pulse and not keep feeding the 12v. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

      Re: Remote Starter

the remote starter is a bulldog RS-82. I tested putting in a switch in between the Factory Alarm Disarm wire and the remote starter and after it disable the alarm i flipped it off and it still did not work. I found out that when you put your key in the ignition the remote is disabled. My guess is that is why it is not working. So now i need a pin out of the Keyless entry module and maybe i can interrupt it there so it doesn't know the car is started. So if anyone has or can find the pinout id the Keyless entry module i maybe able to get it to work.
