      removing shifter

im going to be putting 4 led lit toggle switchs in to my center consele, while it is out i mind as well take off the shifter, cut of the stock knob, and install an aftermarket shifter knob that is laying around in my room for 2 years now

how would i go about taking off the shifter?

stick it in a pot of boiling water to loosen the glue.

      Re: removing shifter

If you're asking how to remove the actual shaft, then all you need to do is pull off the vynil boot. Pull it up over the knob to get it out of the way. then put it in like 3rd gear. Then near the base there is a like C-Clip attached to a pin, on mine I had to push it to the left, Im assuming they are all the same but the part can go either way. push the C-clip off then pull the pin out and the shaft is then removed.

ok removed the shifter (thanks for the info) and removed the the stock knob, the knob i had turned out to be messed up so now i need to go out and buy one, and make sure it works with the reverse lock out

should of left it the way it was

      Re: removing shifter

the momo deal fell through, so i got a black knob with a chrome ring on top , all thats left to do is figer out what to do with the reverse lock out.

the switches are done, and the concole is going back in to the car just as soon as hit "Submit"
