You should use an amp that is 1 ohm stable even though you can not wire the sub to present a 1 ohm load, there are instance when the speaker resistance can drop lower then 2 ohm if you plan on wiring in a 2 ohm configuration.

Depending on the speaker ohm rating and number of coils that determines what kind of load you can present to an amplifier.

what would be a good amp? (not the brand but power wise) 1200Watts?
and can it be asumed that amps RMS is half of the rated watts just like the subs?

150-300 watts RMS will be fine for power. Although it's nice to match power ratings on equipment, subs are made to run on a range of power. Just don't underpower it with a 60 watt (1800 watts!!!) walmart amp and you'll be fine.

And power ratings on amps are rated all over the place. The honest manufacturers/retailers will list the RMS power somewhere, try to match rms to rms.

      battery

i installed a batteryisolator under the hood replacing the alternator plug with a new one for the sense and put the secondary batt in the trunk using a sealed optoma battery and a battery box. did this for future use and upgrades, i currently only have my infinity baselink II hooked to it.
my main reason for this isolator setup was so that if the secondary battery drains with the car off it will not drain the primary and i can still start the car
