Has anyone done this to their Aveo?
Has anyone done this to their Aveo?
As far as I am aware no one has done this yet (but many are working)...

Pardon the naive question but...
where would the spare go then?
I honestly wish I could do that though. When I went looking for a sub woofer and what not for my car, I decided against it because I need my trunk. And having the spare came in handy 'cuz I hit a crater one night, bent the rim and flattened the tire instantly
The sound in my car sucks. If it would be possible to have both the spare and the sub woofer, I'd do it in a second.
My work in progress...

I'm just using a tube to keep space consumption a minimum. As far as the amp.... I did notice a bit of unused space under the carpets to the sides by the rear speakers (aveo5). I will probably make a VERY small enclosure and take advantage of that space... plus it will make the amp closer to a ground being that it's already under the carpet lol.
You'd Have to make a bracket for the sub to fit in the well.
Has anyone done anything to upgrade those aweful 4 x 6 speakers in the rear window of a hatchback? I threw some 6 x 9's in boxes and set them on top of the tray in the back and placed interchangeble connectors so i can switch speakers in case i need to put some thing in the back. I have 2 12" subs in the back with its own amp and up graded to 6 1/2's in the front, all alpine. Sounds good, however if i ever wreck those 6 x 9's are gonna kill me.

bazooka tubes or infinity bass link's are the best for this car from personal experience.
On the other hand, I couldn't be happier with my 10 inch sealed sub(150W rms) with a 140watt (rms) amp and 5 1/4 and 1 inch components in the front and 2way 4x6 in the rear. All for under 200$. Thanks to the surplus storeOriginally Posted by o4aveohb

As that may be true for your situation, I know that there is better equipment, with more dynamic range, for the vehicle then the aforementioned products so I think the correct statement should leave out the word better. I am not taking anything away from Bazooka or Infinity but there is better equipment out there and best is relative to ones' experiences.Originally Posted by o4aveohb

I agree there. The basslink and Basslink II, as well as the bazookas and Blaupunkt self-powered rigs are great solutions. Where space becomes a factor, and depending on the desired effect, they can be great, there are, however other solutions that are just as good, if not better in some ways, if I may name a few, even give ideas.Originally Posted by aveosummit
1) the spare tire sub is great for space.
2) reversed wedge enclosures (for smaller subs)
3) stealth boxes (custom designed for post wheel well fit)
4) low airspace subs with "deck box" (lays flat lifts the trunk deck a couple inches)
5) flush seat boxes (snug up to your rear seat with a forward facing speaker)
As I may like the sound, I am not a fan of larger speakers 12" and up, primarily because of the airspace and power requirements, but some are a fan of the plain old squared box, though they are not very space efficient.
In the end, you got to go with what you like.
4 wheels, 4 doors, 4 cylinders, 8 speakers, and 1 loose nut on the steering wheel driving the car!
