      Spray (Foaming) insulation ????

Has anyone tried using home building spray foam insulation in between their car's panels? I am thinking specifically for in between the headliner and roof. In door cavities too. The goal is to have a lightweight, noise attenuating, heat insulating, compression resistant (maybe) easy to apply material.

      Any thoughts, examples, recommendations?

Thats an interesting prospect. How do you keep it away from gumming up the mechanisms in the doors for your windows and door locks? I know some people lay out Dynamat on the floors for sound and heat insulation.

You need to use the polyurethane based stuff as it can get wet. Google this, not only does it insulate, but it will aid in reducing chassis flex as well. OEM's use it for these reasons.

Yeah, there are several companies that produce mats. But, the idea of spray foaming is still too new i guess.

Be warned, spray foam as it exspands has to go somewhere, if a person uses too much it WILL push as far as it needs to go meaning it could push out door pannels and outer metal pannels etc. this happened to a co worker when putting it in the gaps of his windows between the frame and window of his house, now his slider windows won't slide.

I've heard under coating in a can has worked.

I remember looking into this and all the feedback I got was that it was not easy to do.

i dont care, i'd rather take out the seats and the carpets and lay down dynamat, or just turn up the radio and forget about it.
