      Sub and Amp

      What is everyone else using?
I went to the local Futureshop and picked up a Kappa sub and a Thunder amp and once hooked up was very disappointed. So I've returned them and am thinking about getting this: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_inf ... cts_id=759

I'm guessing that will hit fairly hard in a small Aveo. My goal is to get the whole thing shaking. So I was wondering if anyone else has any sound systems that accomplish that. If so, what is your setup?

      Thanks.

That's nice and all, but you'll have to contact AVEOSUMMIT ( C3 Customs) for a high output alternator. That amp draws more current than the total of the stock alternator.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

      Re: Sub and Amp

I've been trying to contact him and gave up a while back. I was going to get a sub and amp package from there...
What if I did the big 3 upgrade, would I be alright if I didn't keep it cranked all the time?

      Re: Sub and Amp

I apologize if you were unable to get in touch with me. To shake the aveo a nice sub and amp would do the trick. As far as a H.O. alternator, 200 amp alternator, they run $500.

If you have an amp that is pulling 130amps and you only have alternator that is producing 85amps, you will lose something amp, alt, battery or more. Upgrading the big three will not solve your problem of not having enough power to feed the amplifier.

      Re: Sub and Amp

hey im the guy from canadiancaraudio.com with the 85amps trend, just get a good 10" or 12" (i would sugest mtx), and get an amp (around 400 watts rms) and a good box and you will be set with bass.

      Re: Sub and Amp

Well I'm not sure if I'll be making this my official project car or not. So for now, I'll keep the music low. If I do decide to keep it, I'll definitely look into that alternator, as all my money would be going into the car anyways for upgrades.
If only it was a 5 speed, I'd be in love.

As for the subs and amps. I tried going with a setup that pushed about 300RMS. That wasn't enough for me, so I'm thinking of going big this time.

      Tyson,

Are you saying you had an amp that pushed 300 RMS and it wasn't enough power for the Aveo? I've got 150 true RMS to a single 12 and I worry the airbags are gonna go off. If I crank it with the windows closed you can feel the air the sub is pushing around the cabin.

      Re: Sub and Amp

I have a cheap Kenwood deck and a cheap Jensen amp that is 75 watts x4 and a rockford fosgate 12" sub in a ported enclosure. I bridged 2 channels to the sub for 150 rms, and the sub has a control on the deck for 0-15 and I keep it on 9 as I think it is making me deaf in my right ear when i put it on 11 or 13. I cannot imagine having 2 12s and 150 rms to each in that little hatch. First you would need about 1K in dynomat, and disconnect the air bags...take the glass outta the back hatch...
