I'm planning on getting my windows tinted soon and I'm just wondering if anyone has ever ordered any pre-cut tint. Does it actually fit? Has anyone had any bad experiences with it?

tint is a lot harder to apply than what most people would think, i'd let a professional do it.
i did my tint, not bad for the first time, and dirty garage.
make shure the size of the tint is perfict, that was my problem (screwed up on cuting)

Ya, I'm getting a guy at work to do it. He tinted for a while at another shop. But as for the pre-cut stuff, does anyone know if it actually fits?
the stuff i have seen usually fits, often it is laser cut. but some of it is cut so precise that you have no room for error. meaning if you make the edge too tight to one side of the window you can see the gap on the other, or ir you put it on and try to roll the edge when you put the window up you see a little light at the bottom of the glass. i've only seen two cars done with precut though.
if you have a good glass guy, it doesn't really save much effort with precut...
regarding tinting windows i've heard some shops will use a clear nail polish on the edge all the way around to prevent it peeling up. has anyone heard this, or is it fiction?

Tinted professionally for many years. The clear nail polish is an old trick to fix peeling corners or bad adhesion on an edge. There shouldn't be any need to put it on an edge if it is a quality film that is properly installed.Originally Posted by NYChevoo
It depends. The Digitint cut film is pretty much dead on. Other plotter based sytems are hit and mis. There is some variance of windows from car to car, but not that much. Cutting the patterns isn't the hard part though. Heat shrinking rear windows and crease free, installations are the hard parts.Originally Posted by 07_aveo

check how to section for links to a tinitng vid tutorial. although they make it look way easier than it really is.
You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.
I never tinted actually, but I heard spraying water onto the window before applying the film makes the process easier. But it takes a couple days for the wet glue on the film to set. Eveyone know of that trick? Or is that just part of the standard procedure?

Its not a trick. For most films you need some sort of solution(but water and a low level soap works well).Originally Posted by chevy_driver
