put them under where the factory rear speaker go? either pointing up towards the oem speaker grill. or build a sidewall and install them pointing toward each other, or is that location what you meant by hatch cover?

What about molding them into your rear hatch door? Or....

hatch cover is that flimsy cover that on strings, i want to put then somewere that im going to get the best sound off, the stock location might be too small.

      It is way too small.

But from what i have been told 6x9s are most effective when the air in the front and rear of the speaker are separated from one another as much as possible and not placed in open air. So areas like the hatch cover are easiest.

One thing Id be concerned about when placing them somewhere else is if the 6x9s have tweeters; then mounting them in a place within the trunk you'd be lessening their effectiveness. As they would be dampened by the seats/ hatch cover. Where as if they are on the hatch cover or somewhere they can face directly into the passenger compartment you'd get the full impact of them.

I think one show Aveo had a pair of 6x9s in the rear quarter windows. But i dont think you'd like that, I know I wouldnt.

If you`re concerned about the cover being too weak why not get some MDF and make a new one.

      Re: were to put 6x9s

the problem with the hatch cover is how its contoured with those pockets to keep things from sliding around. So 6x9s will look odd on them.

One thing ive heard is that 6x9s are good if you want to avoid using a Sub, and just hooking up them and amp. But for better sound with a sub its better to go with 6" circular speakers.

Though i have 6x9s my self, which are hooked up to the OEM connectors for the rear speakers. Im not sure on the bass that comes from them but Im not concerned about that since Ive got a 10". What I have noticed is the tweeters on the 6x9 have made a great improvement on the audio.

This is just what i have been told, I'm no expert on those details.

      Re: were to put 6x9s

From my experience mid-bass speakers (6" or 8") present the most versatility if you going for added bass without the introduction of a sub as they will blend a system together without overpowering it. Also if you want more focused music I would suggest amplifying your front speakers and you will see less of need for speakers behind you if you are going for clarity. just my $0.05

      Re: were to put 6x9s

when my system is done, i will have 600 watts rms going to 4 speaker, and 500 watts rms going to 1 10" sub

those 6x9s will get 150 watts rms each, and the i need to get components for the front that can handle 150 watts rms
