Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....
I did not need to write any custom software for it to work, although I want to write my own media player because the one that comes with Windows 8 is not really well fit for a car-PC.
If you want to buy the Android Head unit before ordering it ensure that it has been approved by Google, if not you won't have access to the app store and you want to to load your custom software that you'll have to publish on the store. There are ways to load custom software on an android device that has no store access but that requires a bit of hacking. You will find help for that on the androidx86 project web site.
I personally I went the Windows 8 way because it's a touchscreen oriented OS and I code with the .net framework professionally so there's no learning curve for me there.
Also an other thing to consider is when you want to add new devices to the unit almost all device on the market comes with a windows driver. With Android your selection is very limited and you'll have to rely mostly on Bluetooth devices.

Hi everyone! I Just want to let you know that I'm starting a wiki about Car-PC installation. It's empty as of right now but I will start working on it a.s.a.p. Here's the link to it: Car-PC Wiki
