Your advice on combination of amps, speakers, subs

      Hello everyone,

As I understand it, we have 6.5 fronts (possibly a shallow mount?) and 4x6 rear, is that about right? I personally find the trunk space on the aveo (hatch) is quite small and although I'd love to have a couple of 10 inch subs, I don't want to sacrifice a big part of the trunk.

      Some questions I have:
      - what type of quality do shallow mount subs offer in comparison to a normal setup?
      - is it possible to set these up anywhere other than the trunk in the aveo?
      - is it better to have one amp to handle the speakers, and another amp to handle the subs? which amps would you recommend for this?

I would like to consider the Signal to Noise ratio and THD @ RMS. Is this a good choice for an amp to use with speakers: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_243 ... CX250.html. The price seems really low, so I don't know if this is any good but the specs say signal to noise 103dB and THD @ RMS 0.01%
      75w x 2 channels, 400w x 1 (bridged) , low pass 35-160Hz, high pass fixed 200Hz

I don't know know all that much, or even if this is an amp to be used with speakers instead of subs at all ... but I do know that max watts are not the only thing i want to be considering

if anyone can help me figure out the best way to go , would be highly appreciated!

That amp is at the most 150W RMS Bridged. That 400W is the max figure. I suggest spending twice that amount on an amp.

I'd recommend minimum 300W RMS 10in sub in a sealed box with a matched amp if you want good oomfff in a tight package.

I have a 150W sub and amp with 5.25 door and 4x6 rears and the sub is not quite enough. Although the filter is set at 72HZ.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

Thanks. How about an amp for the speakers?

If you are running the stock deck, a 50x4 amp would be enough. An aftermarket deck will have enough juice to power speakers (About 18W RMS per channel). Most good speakers can take up to 50W RMS or more.

Now it all depends on how loud you want it. My setup is too loud for me. All I have is a JVC deck powering the speakers.

Re: Your advice on combination of amps, speakers, subs

I have everything stock right now but I have a Pioneer DEH-2200UB on the way, so I will be able to use USB keys instead of CDs... finally.

I plan to change the speakers as well, but I haven't decided on which ones yet.

Basically I want to have a nice balance of good quality sound. I don't want one range over powering the rest of the sound.

So let's assume aftermarket deck with 4 decent speakers. Is it worth getting an amp specifically for the speakers?

I dunno, maybe around $1000 for the whole setup. not sure if it's doable ..
I don't need to get everything all at once, so this gives me some head room to spend a bit more.
