Hi everyone :hello2:.
I've got a 06 LT with a shot front left bearing. I went to the salvage yard today to pick a knuckle assembly, and out of the 3 they had pulled, all had some (about the same) play in the hub/bearing. Is this normal to have some up and down movement in the bearing assembly? All spun easily with no noise.

When the drive shaft is put through the hub and then torqued, it preloads the bearing.
This means that the hub assembly without the drive shaft can have some play even though the bearing is installed.
The inner race of the bearing is actually two pieces which are sandwiched, and the bearing seated together once drive shaft is torqued.
At least that's the case for my 05 aveo, yours should be the same.

Got her put together and torqued down and there is no slack in the bearing.
