hi , I had the same issue with the clunking rear bushings. I purchased the VW bushings and had a local shop put them in. he charged 100 bucks and it was worth every penny..mike
Shocks removed this morning, one has lost its gas and has a "flat spot".
Both shaft nuts #2 had been over-tightened when assembled.
I replaced the stuffed one and had the lock nut #2 tension correctly set, re-fitted both, no problems now.
