      aveo sway and skip?

I know it may sound strange but...this car - 2010 aveo lt, feels as if it sways side to side going down the road, this isnt as noticeable tho as whenever i hit any kinda bump or manhole cover it feels as if the whole rear of the car is lifted a foot or so to the side, as if it "skips" to the pass side...i understand its a short wheelbase lightweight car but i never noticed anything like this in any other small car ive owned.....any ideas??

FIRST verify your struts, strut mounts, and axle bushings are ok.

This is typically evident as a problem where you feel like a fishtail swaying on snow covered roads, or ice. Due to lightness of the rear end.

But with a solid rear axle, its a transfer of weight. I've hit a few things that "feel" like it pushed the car sideways. Its usually the car feels like it "slides" to the opposite side of what you hit that is because if you hit something hard enough, it will move the whole axle up. And as a result, the car has to quickly recenter it weight, which is the movement you feel.

Try to avoid hitting things, which is hard to do in PA. But its not an issue limited to the aveo, it is felt a little more as the car is so light. But most cars that have a solid axle rear end do something similar.

Tire pressure was checked (light on) and added yet the condition still exists daox, thanx for your response.
Exactly right rabbit, it feels as if it fishtails during everyday driving, and yea, drivin on Pa roads mainly interstates, where ya get that constant thump thump...thump thump every 50+ yards gets annoying since the car wants to slide to the pass side every time

The bushings at the rear axle pivot may be shot.
