Hi, Purchased new. 95k now. I go through tires way too quickly. Anybody else? It's a 5 speed stick and I am "middle aged". :^) I drive very sensibly and don't hit things ever. Thanks!

Is "worn out" being determined by the "penny" check, or some other way? Was there any abnormal tire wear (cupping, etc.), or did the tread have a normal wear pattern at replacement time? Did you check inflation fairly regularly and also rotate a couple times a year? Also the tire make and rating would be helpful as well (although no tire should wear out that quickly).
My '08 eats tires too. I have the 185/55r15 tire, and the summer/all season tires tend to last 25,000 - 50,000 kms, yet my snow tires last easily twice as long even running them through the summer. My theory is that the all season compound is very soft as the size is considered more of a sports car than econo-box tire. My current snow tires are entering their third winter having never been off the car since installation. My last all seasons lasted one (short) Alberta summer.
Does that mean you never rotated them? If they are snow tires, I can understand that there would be no point in rotating them. However, snow tires are meant to be removed in summer. And all tires should be rotated over time, to even out wear.My current snow tires are entering their third winter having never been off the car since installation.
Tell us more, so we can better understand your situation.
Tires are rotated regularly. I was just observing that the all season tires wear very fast in this size as per the OP's complaint, yet my winter tires wear better, especially here where winter seems to last forever.
OP, did you have the suspension and steering checked? I would suspect the control arm bushings at that mileage.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.
I have a 2009 Aveo5 LT with 14" stock rims, and only 50,000 miles; I have burnt through 4 sets of tires probably. Some of it due to wheel alignment problems, but still very disappointed. Also seems that the stock tire size isonly made by a few unknown brands. I do good at keeping them inflated, and no hard starts/stops.
A 185/60r14 is a very common size used on VW for almost 25 years.
Don't buy into the guys ate the tire store telling you this is a rear tire size.
You need to know where to shop so you don't over pay, or buy online to save some money.
I have always only gotten 10-15k miles out of a set of tires. regardless of the vehicle, tires size, or cost.
I now buy cheaper tires and watch treadwear ratings the lower the number the less they last..

I agree, my car never seems to have good luck with tires. I used to keep getting alignments and suspension parts replaced....but its no use. Used tires for me now. I dont drive hard, strictly hwy commuter. Just eats them up too quick.
