Re: bad lower control arm
That's a new one for me. Usually you feel something more, a slight wobble, a pull, something. May be something for some of the older aveo owners to take a look at.
A small repair ($83 is a small repair), could save from having costly repairs, and possible dammage on the front end, and possible wreck. Thanks for the heads up.

I bet that is one of the things wrong with my aveo, I'll have to have that looked at real soon
Re: bad lower control arm
The lower control arm was somewhat of a problem for my 04, I guess because its summer I don't hear the creaking noise but during winter its loud and the dealership said something about lower control arm bushing to stop the noise.
Re: bad lower control arm
you know i hear a "thu-thu-thu-thu-thu" noise when i drive my aveo. its quite loud and more prominent when im turning right slightly. could this be the problem? cus shoot, for 83$ ill change mine out if thats the prob. i thought it was maybe an out of balance tire so i put a dif. one on it and it still makes the noise. sorry for the hijack nychevoo!

$83 for the part, or is that parts and labor? Because I called my local stealership and they said it'd be like $312 to change it out
Re: bad lower control arm
the part was $83.00 + $93.00 labor.

And this was at a Chevy dealership? I may just have to go bust some heads
Re: bad lower control arm
this was at my local chevy dealership
Re: bad lower control arm
Hey this may seem kind of wierd, but can you email me a copy of your receipt from your visit? I want to use it as leverage to any dealership that may want to overcharge me around here. The chevy dealership here in town wants to charge me $362 to do the drivers side (I made sure that was for 1 and not both sides)
Re: bad lower control arm
wtf?? ARE THEY CHARGING YOU THAT FOR?
Re: bad lower control arm
y2daniel1981, my biggest apologies. the lower control arm was ordered from my local chevy dealership and cost $83.00, and installed by mallory kotzen tire which is a ny/ct tire store. i would be happy to send you that receipt. on gmpartsdirect.com the lower control arm for the left side is priced at $50.60, the right side lower control arm is $62.23. not sure of the difference in price. i say maybe order it and let the local mechanic install it. sorry for the confusion, totally my fault.

ah now it becomes clear, i still think they are over charging me, lol
Re: bad lower control arm
i know that recently i just had my 02 suburban dealer serviced and the labor rate was $98.00/hr at the chevy dealership. i needed to take my truck back to chevy for some warranty work under my extended warranty and some stuff was covered and some stuff was not covered.
Re: bad lower control arm
i have a 2006 aveo and have had lower control bushing problems. I hear a hollow clunking noise when going over small bumps slowly. check out the thread on hollow noise up front when going over bumps. About 7 threads down from this one
