      Progress!

There are few things that need addressed
The other issues that really come in is the caliper carrier mount, it needs to be mounted before the drum, IT seems easier to assemble everything than bolt it onto the car.

I need to clearance the axle, there is some extra meat back there for whatever reason. And it hits the caliper.

I also need to try fitting a mk4 caliper instead. there is very little clearance to the strut. (I can't say how much until i clearance the axle and actually mount both carrier bolts at the same time.

Ill let the pictures speak for themselves.

If any of you have any further ideas/questions, lmk, what is needed, it will be easy to work out.

I dont like that the pictures stay pictures once i try to edit it, if you want to see the thumb get big, drag the picture to a new tab and change "thumb" to "large" and you will see it full size.

Oh offset change is about +8 mm

Not going to say my measurement was exact. As I didn't have help holding the straight edges to the surfaces. But it's close to that.

I'm sending the necessary adjustments to the plate maker. They will be ready to go on their end.

I am pretty sure the mk4 calipers will clear but I am also going to eliminate my helper springs to add clearance.

Once I know it will fit, and what is necessary for the swap. I'll give it the green light.

Rust= results of 48000 miles and 5 winters in North Eastern US.

I'm glad to see this coming along. Rabbit, you only have 48k on your car? My 09 just flipped 51.

I did 36k in the first two years. Less than 5 a year since.

'08 just rolled over 100,000 miles!
I've thought it would be nifty to have rear disks too, but I don't know how it would be worth the work for me...

Hey rabbit any update on this? And the adapter plate looks bout 1/4in thick so it will space the rear wheels out aswell right?

the final offset change is about 8mm per side, the guy that made me the adapter plates is available for orders.

shakatu, it is worth doing, because you would only do it once. and then the replacement if ever needed is about the same price as doing the drums. And the design gives you better rear bearings, that hold up nicely.
