Hey all,
Anyone have any luck on rear drums and shoes for the Aveo?

My advice: don't ever touch these unless you've rented a bay.
I've only ever changed drums/shoes once... and I'll never touch them again, unless it's to swap them out for discs.
As far as finding drums/shoes for the aveo... shoes can easily be found at autozone/AAP... drums you'll probably need to order through the dealer, though
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far the wall moves after you hit it.
Rear shoes aren't hard too change with the right tools. Without the right tools and lack of experience my friend and I did a Toyota Corolla in 2 hours. Sure it takes some time, but in the end it's more rewarding (for me anyway).
You must be driving your Aveo pretty hard to have to replace the rear drums and shoes...
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.
This was the VW... haven't tried any since.

Thanks all. I will do at my friends shop.
I think I am getting shoes and pads for Christmas (I think its a great gift).
I'll see what my mechanic says about it when I get it done.
yeah its really not that hard, if you dont know what your doing, then it help to take apart one side at a time, so you can look at the other side for reference.
You bet Autocross does a number on the brakes. I have R-1 rotors and pads coming for the front and that will help.Originally Posted by ontarian_frog
Glad someone is driving the aveo the way it was meant to be.

I can't wait to upgrade my brakes and pads...and in a few my rotors as well. I found some I really like, and should perform well on Amazon of all places (along with the pads and shoes I'm getting, and gold caliper/drum paint to match it all up, should look good behind the copper wheels.)
