      Red face brake noise

hi. i have a 2010 aveo5 with 60,000 on the clock. just heard a clicking noise coming from outside (i had the window closed) and i think it might be the metal thing on the brake pads they call a sensor.it's supposed to make a noise when the pads wear down far enough. the ones on my chevys would squeek and this one was clicking. am i on the right track or do you think it might be something else? the original pads are still on the car. as allways thanks very much. denny

Sounds like you are but with that many miles one other thing that concerns me. Have you changed your timing belt, pulleys and water pump yet. It is time to do that and do it now.

when i bought the car new i asked the dealer mechanics about that issue (timing belts, pulleys and pump)because i heard they would go at about 60 thou and up. they told me that the 2010 is considered the second generation and they do not have that problem like the earlier ones did. they said the belt is a 100,000 mile item.

The timing belts on the 2010's (ECOTEC engine) don't need to be replaced until 100,000 miles.

You are correct ECOTEC engines are 100,000 mile intervals for belt replacement.

the brakes don't click. it is more likely either the cv joints or the wheel bearings. I had a horrible clicking that became a thumping almost. And I just redid my wheels bearing and one axle. I am at 55k miles. I think my other axle is clicking now (at least i hope its the axles and not a bad new wheel bearing).

Well good to know that they did take care of the timing belt issue with later cars.

thanks for the reply. i'll jack the front end up this weekend and check the wheel and cv out. seems to take a little while on the road befor it clicks. it's like a stick is stuck in there or something and makes a somewhat silent clicking.

That phrase makes me smile. It's an interesting choice of words.
