I'm having trouble with installing the back coilovers... Once I mount up the upper strut mounts with the coilovers, aligning the lower strut bolt with the coilover just seems impossible. I was able to get one side done, but I had to compress the coilover a little and then slide the bolt through.. I didn't keep it that way because I didn't want to put any stress where it shouldn't be. Can anyone help me out? I'm not sure what to do.
Did you have to crank the coilovers down pretty low? I would be able to get the damn things to fit if the whole strut body was shorter. When I have my height set, the uncompressed strut is just a little too long for the beam to raise up enough for that bolt to slide through.
So it seems like I found the problem. When I tried installing them, I had them both as high as they could go. OOPS. So, the way to go is to lower the perches all the way, push the coilover so the shock compresses, then install and adjust from there. Correct?
Are you running mk2's or 1's up front rabbit? Are you having rubbing issues with the 15x8's up front? I am thinking of stretching 195 50 15 on 15x8's and am wondering if I am going to have rubbing issues....
i have mk2 in the front, what is the offset of the 15x8 your are running? My car is too low for a 195/50 in the front, i went with a 195/45r15 They did not rub at all. Currently i have a 165/50r15 its even better, but i lost traction. Once i cut my fenders open i will go to a 195/45 again.
