the mk1 struts would be only slightly higher.. in front i think they are about 1 1/2" shorter. I am running mk1 rears.. I have them adjusted way higher than i did on my mk1. But it definitely depends on your tire size where you want to end up..

Odd, my problem is the fronts lol, the rears are perfect. but my wheels are spaced out 1" too...
Strange thing I noticed today, when the car is sitting on level ground, the front passenger side coil's strut is compressed, and Im not sure why, I cranked the springs up a ton, both the fronts look level with each other too...
also pics are coming!
Better be........pics
Tehe I'll upload pics in a minute. But for now I think this I think a final update. Pulled the one front fender and pulled the liner out. Figured out where the tire was rubbing thanks to my girlfriend. Where the fender meets the bumper was hitting, a grinder took care of that. So all good, other than that one odd strut
looks pretty good. for the strut issue, what is the wheel well height on each side? turn the car around in the spot it is sitting and see if the opposite rear is compressed. What appears perfectly level to us, might make a car sit crooked on the pavement.
ALSO COUNT YOUR THREADS. you do not want to be 23 threads on one side and 26 on the other (unless you balanced the car on scales).. it will transfer the weight to the other side.
Thanks, I measured the threads, I'll have to try what you said about level ground.
OK, im still having rubbing issues in the front... ugh this is such a pain... It seems like its rubbing on the plastic bumper, and I dont know what to do about that...is there a DIY way to add a little negative camber?
A heat gun can help you mold the plastic piece away from where it's scraping. That, or you can just let the rubbing take care of itself. It'll eventually stop.
i rub all the time.. you get used to it :P
loosen the 2 strut bolts on the knuckle. pull out as far as you can on the bottom of the strut, tighten the bottom bolt. the push in as hard as you can on the strut and tighten the top bolt, that about as much camber as you can get.
