      Control arms issues

My apologies if I am posting this incorrectly gang as I have never posted on a forum before (my son normally does it for me ). I believe my question is probably fairly common....do the Aveos go through control arms frequently? I had the drivers side replaced by the shop (I didn't have time) a year ago but now it looks like both are bad. Before I replace them this weekend does anyone have any more insight or links that will make the job more efficient?

      Thanks in advance

I put a lot of miles on my 2007 (average around 35-40k a year) and my control arms need replacing every 6-9 months. Either the balls joints or the rubber mounting bushing go bad causing shaking and clunking in the front. From what the guys at Napa said, they have to replace them about every 25-40k on their delivery aveos as well. Very common problem

After you replace them be sure to use never seize or something similar on the bolts. The 2 main mounting bolts tend to rust up and become VERY difficult to remove. Mine actually started to bend and deform the bracket they mount in because the bolts seized in the bushing sleeve. Take your time and make sure everything is torqued properly

My control arm issues may have something to do with the absolutely terrible roads here in Minnesota. The pot holes really take their toll on any vehicle

My car has been used on a paper route for almost six years and has 129,450 and I replaced the Passenger side control arm in September 2011 and just last month I replaced the driver side Control Arm. I should have known bettter to change them at the same time just like when replacing brakes the other side is just as bad.

you can replace the bushings, if you want but the "complete" arm is only like $40, and the bushings and ball joint come on it. Where as the bushing and balljoints are $20, and you have to press the bushing out..

That's the way to go then...The complete arm...Do they sell them with the "energy suspenion" (polyurethane) bushings ?
